  • How long does it take to make our wedding rings?

    The day starts at 10am, and you are usually finished between 4pm and 5pm.

  • What metals can I make my jewellery in?

  • I have a ring left to me by my grandmother. Can I make my ring using the gold?

    Yes, you can make your rings using sentimental gold, but there is a recycling fee for this.

  • Can we visit the workshop for a consultation?

    Yes, consultations are by appointment. Mark usually holds these Monday to Friday from 6.30pm. But if you are unable to visit the workshop, the consultation can be done over the phone or via a Zoom call.  

  • What days are you open?

    The workshop is open seven days a week. Weekend dates tend to get booked up first.

  • Can I have stones in my ring?

    Yes, we can source stones for you, or if you have stones you would like to use, that is fine too. When your rings are finished, they go to our master setter to have the stones set.

  • My engagement ring is shaped. Can my ring be made to fit the shape?

    Absolutely, but you need to make sure you bring your engagement ring on the day of. 

  • Can I use my own gold or silver?

    Yes, but there is a recycling fee for this.

  • Can I buy a gift voucher?

    Yes, you can buy gift vouchers towards a day in the workshop from £50.

  • Is hallmarking included in the cost of the metal?

    Yes; once your rings are finished, they are sent to the Assay Office for hallmarking.

  • Can I have engraving?

    Yes, if you would like your rings engraved, we either use a master hand engraver or a laser engraver depending on what you require.

  • Will my rings look professional?

    Yes, Mark guides you through each step of the way. He has lots of techniques to get you wonderful rings. Check out our reviews on the Testimonials and Experiences pages, look at our Facebook reviews, and see our finished rings in the Gallery on our website. 

  • Can I have a textured finish on my rings?

    Yes, there are several textures. Along with the polished rings there are also matte and hammered finishes you can apply.

  • Do you have parking?

    Yes, there is plenty of parking. 

  • How far in advance do I need to make my rings?

    Ideally, your rings need to be made at least eight weeks prior to your wedding. If you are having stones or engravings added, please allow an extra two weeks. If you don’t have much time before your wedding, it may still be possible, but it would be best to give us a call to discuss your options.

  • What about rhodium plating?

    Rhodium is a bright white colour and is a plating added to the white gold jewellery you see in the shops.


    If you make 9ct or 18ct white gold wedding rings, Mark will rhodium plate them once they have been hallmarked. Please let Mark know if you would prefer not to have this done.


    This does wear off in time, but if you would like them re-plated, book an appointment at The Jewellery Cottage to have your rings replated while you wait. There is a charge for this service. He can also do your engagement ring.

  • How do I book?

    If you would like to book, either fill in the contact form on the website, send an email or Facebook message us. Alternatively, you can phone the workshop. A £50 deposit secures your day.
